Windows 7 Remote Server Administration
I recently installed the Windows 7 64bit RTM on my work machine, and to no surprise I have been very impressed. All previous installs were 32bit and the difference between the two so far is very noticeable (performance wise). Something I realized I needed to do pretty quickly was recover the ability to use administrative services built in to windows to manage some of the server features. Took me a few minutes to find the right link, but here it is.
“Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows® 7 enables IT administrators to manage roles and features that are installed on computers that are running Windows Server® 2008 R2, Windows Server® 2008, or Windows Server® 2003, from a remote computer that is running Windows 7.”
I make the most use out of it by managing ADUC from my workstation quickly. DHCP and DNS can also be managed this way. Check it out if you do not make use of this already. It is also helpful for allowing users who may not have permission to the servers themselves manage some of the daily tasks that come up.
