Droid doesn’t…sync exchange calendars.
For all that the ‘Dr
oid Does’, it sure is missing one key item for business users. The ability to sync with Exchange calendars. Today I had my first chance to test drive the Droid, and the device is very impressive. I was not thrilled at it’s lack of integration with the Active Sync security policies set on our servers, and am still not quite sure which option it was that the phone did not support. The real kicker is that out of the box the devicve does not support the calendar sync. Suggestions from Goolge forums point you to the Google Calendar Sync App to use your gmail account to retrieve the data. This is far from a clean out of the box solution. I’ve used that app a few times in the past and it still shows to be pretty buggy.
The device has a ways to go before it can make its way into the business market, but the performance of the phone may be enough to lure some users away from the traditional Blackberry and Windows Mobile solutions.
