I had an issue come up yesterday where I needed to reconnect a user’s Blackberry to our BES server. Upon reconnecting, the users contact list was duplicated because I did not clear the users device before reconnecting (nobody’s fault but my own). To clear this issue up I took these simple steps:

  1. On the Blackberry, open the contacts and go to your options. (Menu -> Options)
  2. Simply type: rset
  3. The device will prompt you to delete the local list and re-populate from the server, choose yes. (Probably a good idea to make a backup of the contacts on the server)

After a few minutes the device downloaded the contacts again and the duplicates were gone!

    Awesome, this post really helps. Duplicates are really frustrating; this can cause other conflicts as well. On the side note using duplicate remover tool Scrubly Duplicate Remover is really effective. This automatically scan and delete those duplicates , merge compatible contacts and resolve other related conflicts.

    Thank you. Solved my problem with some contacts having incomplete information as well as with duplicates.
