I have been a Windows for years and think that Windows 7 has been Microsoft’s greatest OS to date. My RC install from last year is going to come to an end March 1st. I’m going to take a different step and walk away from Windows on my home computer. I intend to keep my installation of Win 7 on my laptop. I’ve chosen to install Linux in it’s place.

The motivation behind the switch is simply that it has been over 5 years since I first attempted to ‘live’ full time in a Linux environment. Plus the system is aging and I’m not ready to upgrade it just yet. I’m still undecided with the distribution I’m going to choose. In the past I’ve used Ubuntu, Slackware, Red Hat, and Debian. I’ve been out of the Linux world for a little bit so I’m open to suggestions. The open world source has grown so much in the past few years so I’m optimistic the installation will fit my needs for all of regular tasks.
