Has Unemployment Bottomed Out Yet?

Unemployment Graph

Source: Consumerist.com

I saw this graph over on The Consumerist about unemployment and how scary the above graph is. I have a few things to add to this and felt it deserved a post here. Some of the comments on the site were about how the scale is magnified and it makes it look more dramatic. Sure, its magnified, but that doesn’t change the fact that there is a marginal difference between the current rate and the previously recorded lowest. Especially when you are talking about job numbers in the millions.

The bright side of this is that if you look at the history, it tells us that we are coming very near to bottoming out if we haven’t already. I can’t imagine that even by the end of this year we will start to see a steady increase in jobs, but it’s certainly right around the corner. It’s easy for me to say while I have a secure full time job with steady work on the side, but things are looking up.

The last thing that I see this graph is opportunity. When the unemployment rate starts to go down on a steady basis, there is going to money to be spent and plenty to be made. Don’t miss the boat on this one start making moves!
