Tumblr’s big mistake
The popular (although debatable) micro blogging site tumblr made one major mistake that took me from several visits a day to MAYBE checking in once a month. A few weeks ago tumblr removed the ‘Popular’ feature, which simply scrolled the most recent posts that were being ‘liked’ or reblogged. It was the ultimate mind break. At any given time you could watch for a minute or so and fairly quickly find something of interest.
Why get rid of this feature? I cannot think of a single reason that would make that a good move. It seems to have been replaced by a user recommended directory, which lacks the instant gratification I got out of the Popular feed. They also will let you pay $9 to get featured, just in case you can’t get any followers the old fashioned way.
Thumbs down tumblr.
