Sites that have aggreed to use @anywhere

Sites that have agreed to use @anywhere

Twitter announced today on their blog that they are releasing a new framework that will allow sites to take advantage of Twitter features without having to send users away from their site. This sounds very similar to the API which is already available, but what this platform is going to do is enable authors to simply drop some javascript code into their page and the Twitter experience will be available. At first I thought that the idea of Twitter actually keeping traffic away from their site was odd, but after giving it some thought I really see the value.

What Twitter is doing is opening up their technology so that it becomes so en-grained in websites we use every day, that it’s value skyrockets. Some major players have already agreed to use the service (shown above). Not only that, but they are taking a huge load off their hands in handling the traffic generated to their website, and allowing less (and more optimized data) to flow through its servers. The fact that users are going to be able to take advantage of Twitter without having to leave the site they are viewing is going to really change things for social media, as Twitter has done over the past few years.
